Whether you are a recent graduate or a recent graduate, the best option is to register with the Real Estate Council of
Ontario (RECO) and obtain your real estate license in the time period specified by RECO.
There is a decimating real estate market facing people in the middle of their course or who have just completed the course. Consequently, many new agents are returning to full-time employment as sales have declined significantly, making it
difficult for anyone to enter the full-time real estate market.
All agents who have passed the registration exam should nonetheless register with RECO within the allowed timeframe.
It does not matter whether they want to work full-time or part-time, or simply park their license until there is a healthy
real estate market again.
The option of parking your license is certainly a good one. Parking your License saves the Agent expensive franchise fees, high Commission splits and desk fees. Parking most certainly allows the agent to conduct Real Estate Transactions
with 100% support and guidance provided by the broker.
Agents receive 100% commission on sales when they conduct a successful transaction. In today’s market, this is the most comprehensive option for new and seasoned realtors alike.
With more than 35 years of experience in the real estate market, we have seen our share of ups and downs. We have
owned and operated RE/MAX Vision Realty Inc. for 16 years. In addition, we have owned Royal LePage Realty for 4years.
The Process to Registered after completing your Courses
Make sure you have your Course results handy. The Application with RECO will require the Applicant to provide a Police Report commonly referred to as a Criminal Record & Judicial Matters Checks , also known as a level 2 Check, to assess an individual’s suitability for registration, under the Real Estate and Business Brokers Act, 2002 (the “Act”) and now as TRESA.
Visit your nearest Police Station and request a Level 2 Police Report. This will take about 3 to 4 weeks to arrive. Various suppliers can provide similar Police Reports on the same day, but RECO has been inconsistent about accepting these from some agents but not from others. Please contact RECO with the name of the supplier to see if they will accept this. You’ll save time this way.
Log-in to Real Estate Council of Ontario website then go to My Web. Then Sign Up For Access to MyWeb. This will allow you to complete your Application as well as upload your educational documentation as well as the Level 2 Police Report.
Payment for the License is normally after the application has been reviewed and approved pending payment of the fees.
In most cases, licensing fees are paid once the application has been reviewed and approved. As part of the application process, you will need to provide the details of the brokerage with which you will be associated.
